2024 – BEST OF – YORKSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

2024 Wedding Photography Roundup: Capturing Love Across Yorkshire, Cheshire & Beyond

As we step into a new year, I’m reflecting on the incredible weddings I had the privilege of capturing across Yorkshire, Cheshire, and beyond in 2024.

What a year it’s been! From rustic barns to grand country estates, each wedding brought its own unique story, but one thing remained constant: the beauty of love, authenticity, and those magical moments in between.

For me, photography isn’t just about taking pictures—it’s about telling a story.

A story of two people, surrounded by their closest friends and family, committing to a life together.

My approach has always been relaxed, natural, and authentic, and this year I’ve been lucky to capture so many incredible moments that perfectly reflect those values.

Here’s a look back at some of the highlights of 2024, from intimate ceremonies to grand celebrations, and the beautiful couples I had the pleasure of working with.

This year I decided to ask my couples just what looking back at their images provoked for them – and why they booked me! Scattered amongst the images are words & quotes directly from my couples – a true testament to the values I hold in my work. Enjoy!

1. A Year of Beautiful Locations

In 2024, I was fortunate enough to travel all over Yorkshire and Cheshire, as well as some stunning venues further afield. From the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales to the charming villages of Cheshire, every location was as breathtaking as the love shared on these special days.

Some of my favourite venues this year included:

  • The Broughton Hall Estate (Yorkshire) – A breathtaking venue surrounded by nature, perfect for couples looking for a blend of rustic charm and timeless elegance.
  • The Oakwood at Ryther (Yorkshire) – The venue embodies a perfect fusion of rustic charm and contemporary sophistication. The rustic barns and open fields offer a traditional rustic aesthetic, while the interior design and décor options add a contemporary touch of luxury.
  • Wharfedale Grange (Yorkshire) – Set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, offering a luxurious and serene environment for couples looking for a countryside wedding with a touch of elegance.
  • Styal Lodge (Cheshire) – The venue has a rustic, yet refined charm, with natural elements that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. It is a blend of country elegance and rustic simplicity, making it suitable for couples who want a relaxed and authentic celebration.
  • The Holford Estate (Cheshire) – With its picturesque gardens and stately architecture, it’s no wonder this venue is a favourite among couples seeking both grandeur and intimacy.
  • The Tithe Barn (North Yorkshire) – A rustic, yet elegant barn wedding venue that exudes charm and character, offering the perfect backdrop for relaxed and beautiful wedding photography.

2. Natural, Candid Moments

The heart of my work lies in capturing those unscripted, genuine moments—the ones that can never be recreated. In 2024, I had the privilege of witnessing and documenting so many heartfelt exchanges: a bride sharing a quiet moment with her father before the ceremony, a couple laughing together during their vows, or a spontaneous first dance under the stars.

I love to let the day unfold naturally, creating a relaxed environment where couples can be themselves. The best images come when people feel comfortable and free, which is why I always take the time to get to know each couple before their big day. This approach allows me to blend into the background and capture authentic, unposed moments as they happen.

3. The Rise of Intimate Weddings

While large celebrations will always have their place, 2024 saw a significant rise in intimate weddings—smaller, more personal celebrations that focus on the most important people in a couple’s life. These weddings have a quieter, more personal feel, and I absolutely adore capturing these intimate moments.

From couples saying their vows in the middle of a forest with just their closest family to a relaxed celebration in a cosy country pub, intimate weddings were full of meaningful connections and intimate details that made for the most beautiful photographs.

4. Embracing the Outdoors

This year, outdoor weddings were a big trend, and I couldn’t be happier about it! Yorkshire and Cheshire are full of beautiful landscapes, and I’ve been lucky enough to capture couples surrounded by nature, whether that was in the lush green hills of the Peak District or on the shores of a scenic lake.

There’s something so magical about an outdoor ceremony, and I’ve loved capturing the soft golden hour light, the natural textures, and the stunning backdrops. Plus, there’s a sense of freedom and ease that comes with being outdoors, and that relaxed vibe always shines through in the photos.

5. Authentic Details & Personal Touches

What I love most about wedding photography is documenting the little details that make each wedding unique. From handwritten vows to vintage cars, flowers picked straight from the couple’s garden, or a personalised toast with their closest friends—every little detail tells a story.

In 2024, couples were more intentional than ever about weaving personal touches into their big day. I loved capturing the handmade décor, family heirlooms, and personal stories behind the choice of flowers, dresses, and cakes. These authentic details not only brought the couple’s personality into the wedding but also added a richness and depth to the photographs.

6. The Joy of Connection

One thing that always stands out to me is the deep connection between couples and their loved ones. Whether it’s the laughter shared between friends, the tearful moments between parents and children, or the shared joy of saying “I do,” those connections are what make each wedding so special.

In 2024, I captured countless moments that showed the deep bonds of love and friendship, and it reminded me why I do what I do. There’s something indescribably beautiful about capturing people’s emotions in real time, especially when they’re as genuine as the love I witnessed this year.

What’s Next for 2025?

Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to continue capturing weddings that feel real, relaxed, and filled with love. I’m already booking weddings across Yorkshire, Cheshire, and beyond, and I can’t wait to see where this year takes me.
